Sri Lanka’s star hotels offered for coronavirus quarantine

Several star class hotels in Sri Lanka have been offered to the government to be used as quarantine centers if the need arises.

Citrus Leisure PLC has offered its five-star Citrus Waskaduwa to be used as a quarantine center by the National Operations Centre to Prevent Covid-19 on a temporary basis, should the need arise, The Morning reported.

Conglomerate John Keells Holdings PLC (JKH), which owns the Cinnamon Hotels and Resorts in Sri Lanka, has offered its four-star Trinco Blu by Cinnamon in Trincomalee for use as a quarantine center on a temporary basis should the need arise.

While JKH has offered this property due to its proximity to the Sri Lanka Navy base in Trincomalee, the company has expressed willingness to offer other Cinnamon properties around the country, if needed.

Meanwhile, Hemas Holdings PLC has offered its four-star Club Hotel Dolphin in Negombo, to be used as a quarantine Centre by the Government on a temporary basis if the need arises.

The 154-room resort is located in Waikkal, a mere 50 km from Colombo and 20 km from the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA).

Meanwhile, two tourist hotels owned by Hirimbura Chandra Lal Abeygunawardena, a businessman in Galle have been offered to use as quarantine center for people infected with the virus.

His 30-room hotel in Unawatuna, Galle and the hotel in Thalgampola were given to the police today.
